Filter Cloth (Dutch Filter Mesh)
A special type of wire mesh, sometimes referred to as Dutch weave filter cloth, having a greater number of finer wires in the shute direction. Filter cloth is woven in both plain and twill weave patters. It is normally rated by the size particle it will retain, either as the absolute micron rating or the nominal micron rating, expressed in microns. Being a relatively heavy or thick mesh, it is much stronger than a comparably rated square weave mesh.
A series of filter cloth specifications developed by Steellong Wire Weaving for the purpose of filtering in the very fine range (Micronic Filter Cloth down to 10 microns). Each mesh is rated by its retention in microns as determined by the bubble point test. Almost like sheet metal, it has the bending properties and thickness of thin cardboard.

Stainless Steel Type 304/304L Filter Cloth is an austenitic, non-magnetic, thermally nonhardenable economical stainless steel. It resists most oxidizing acids, withstands all ordinary rusting, and is immune to foodstuffs, sterilizing solutions, most organic chemicals and dyestuffs, and a wide variety of organic chamicals, but resists poorly halogen acids.

Stainless Steel Type 316/316L Filter Cloth is similiar to Type 304 but distiguished primarily by the addition of molybdenum which significantly increases it's corrosion resistance. Type 316 can withstand corrosive attack by sodium and calcium brines, hypochlorite solutions, phosphoric, sulfurous, and acetic acids, and the hostile environment oft the body when used for implant.

Woven Wire Cloth consists of wires crossing each other, thus forming the shape and size of the apertures. The transverse weft wires are woven into the longitudinal warp wires on looms similar to those used in the textile industry. The weaving reed controls the distances between the warp wires, the weft wires are determined by the pre-setting of the weaving machine. The cross over and under of each wire cause the wires to be crimped, resulting in a firm and stable interconnection of the mesh. The weft wires are also known as shute, shoot, cross or fill wires.

APPLICATION
Woven Wire Cloth is the only medium having exactly equal and controlled apertures together with a big open area and good physical and chemical properties. Due to its precision, wire cloth is the ideal media for sieving, filtering, and printing as well as many other specialized applications.
