Filter grade cloth is woven in the Dutch weave ( see Types of Weaves). The resulting mesh is very firm and strong, providing accurate filtration at high pressures and flow rates.

Stainless Steel Type 304/304L Filter Cloth
 
It is an austenitic, non-magnetic, thermally nonhardenable economical stainless steel. It resists most oxidizing acids, withstands all ordinary rusting, and is immune to foodstuffs, sterilizing solutions, most organic chemicals and dyestuffs, and a wide variety of organic chamicals, but resists poorly halogen acids.

Stainless Steel Type 316/316L Filter Cloth
 
It is similiar to Type 304 but distiguished primarily by the addition of molybdenum which significantly increases it's corrosion resistance. Type 316 can withstand corrosive attack by sodium and calcium brines, hypochlorite solutions, phosphoric, sulfurous, and acetic acids, and the hostile environment oft the body when used for implant.

Industrial wire cloth can be divided into square mesh wire cloth, space cloth and ultra fine filtration cloth.

Square Mesh Wire Cloth
Our inventory includes a wide variety of this product, from 1" mesh to 500 mesh, including most standard market grades.
Square Wire Mesh is mostly used as window screening, safety guards on machinery enclosures. It's also widely used in filtering liquid and gas, sieving grain .

Space Cloth
This rugged available in a wide range cloth is of opening sizes. Space cloth can be woven from any material, used for the screening and sieving of solids, having a specified space between strands. 

Ultra Fine Filtration Cloth.
Steellong offers a complete line of ultra fine woven wire meshes down to 5 micron retention. Filter cloth specifications include square mesh, plain or twilled Dutch weaves, micronic mesh and reverse filter cloth. 
Micro Mesh can offer wide range of Wire Cloth dependents on the configuration of wire thickness in relation to aperature size, as well as type of weaves, and can vary in texture from being as fine, soft and flexible as silk to being as rigid as steel plate. Fine Wire Mesh is available in rolls or in cut circles and also as fabricated filters. It can be made available in difficult metals like S.S./Phos./Bronze/Brass.

The distinctions between the stainless steel material
Type 304 is often referred to as "18-8" ( 18% chromium, 8% nickel ) with the basic stainless alloy most commonly utilized for wire cloth weaving. It withstands outdoor exposure without rusting and resists oxidation at an elevated temperature up to 1400 Degrees Fahrenheit.

Type 304 L is very similar to T-304, the difference being the reduced carbon content for better weaving and secondary welding characteristics.
 
Type 316 Stabilized by the addition of 2% molydbenum, T-316 is an "18-8" alloy. It has better resistance to pitting corrosion than the other chromium-nickel stainless steels where brines, sulphur-bearing water or halogen salts, such as chlorides are present. A valuable property of T-316 is high creep strength at elevated temperatures. Other mechanical properties and  fabricating characteristics are similar to T-304.
